Such a wonderful find, a gorgeous quality and very pretty Mid Victorian Banded Agate brooch. The whole has such a fabulous completeness of design! The gentle marquise shape is beautifully tactile, every aspect and angle of this super antique piece being considered carefully to the enhance the supremely lovely and harmonious effect. 

Each of the six smaller panels around the central stone is set with a hand carved Cameo in a floral motif with the two colours of the Banded Agate showcased to best effect. Entirely hand crafted in 9ct yellow Gold, to the reverse is a locket compartment which could hold your precious memento. This piece may have been intended as a mourning brooch as these were very fashionable and much worn at the time. Closing with a traditional 'C' clasp, the whole measures 4cm by 3cm. This piece has had some small lead reinforcements which are visible to the reverse only.
